DESCRIPTION:Dave Edyburn\, Ph.D.\, is Senior Research Scientist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Most recently he served as Associate Dean for Research in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida. His research and teaching interests focus on the use of technology to enhance teaching\, learning\, and performance; the nexus of human and machine learning; special education technology research; and universal design for learning. During 2021 he serves as President of the Pioneers Division of the Council for Exceptional Children. Dr. Edyburn has served as Editor of numerous professional journals\, including: Journal of Research in Education\, Learning Disability Quarterly\, Remedial and Special Education\, Special Education Technology Practice\, and Teaching Exceptional Children. He is the Guest Editor for an upcoming special issue of Assistive Technology Outcomes and Benefits. \n\nSpecial educators were among the early adopters of microcomputer technologies in the 1980s. As a result of the long-term investments in research and development\, assistive technologies have emerged to become essential tools for fostering independence and enhancing quality of life for individuals with disabilities. DESCRIPTION:Ohio Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders is pleased to invite you to the next virtual (FREE) event in our 21-22 “Take a Breath” Series:  “Increasing Parent Participation” by Dr. Natasha Strassfeld on February 26th at 9:30am. \n\nDr. Strassfeld’s research examines the ways in which parents navigate the special education and accommodations process via legal and policy mechanisms\, racial/ethnic disparities in how students are (mis)identified for special education placements and services\, and special education and related transition services within the juvenile justice system.  \nNatasha Strassfeld is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining the University of Texas at Austin faculty\, she was an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at NYU Steinhardt and Associated Assistant Professor of Public Service at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
